Privacy policy

IPfactory (Switzerland) operates this patent search service. This page says which personal data we process, why, who receives it, how long we keep it and what you can ask. The Data & security page explains the design behind it. Swiss data protection law (FADP) applies; for users in the European Union we also follow the GDPR.

What we collect

Account data: the account name you choose, your e-mail address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), the date the account was created and, if you arrived through one of our links, which link.

Usage counts: how many searches, agent missions and assistant (MCP) calls your account made per day, and the time of each sign-in with the network address it came from. These are numbers and times; no query text, no filter, no result and no document identifier is kept.

Connected assistants: when you connect Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, we keep the name of the connecting application, the date of the connection, the time of its last use and a hash of its token, so that you can see and disconnect it. Access keys are kept as hashes too.

Payments (when paid plans open): the plan you hold and its dates, plus the identifiers our payment provider gives us. Card and bank details are entered on the provider's pages and never reach our servers.

Visits: how many visitors opened each page per day and per campaign link. No visitor address is kept.

What we never keep: your search queries, the documents you open, your agent conversations, dictated audio, the questions you ask your assistant, and the results you get. They are processed and discarded, by design.

Why

To run your account and apply its quotas and plan; to secure the service (sign-in journal, rate limits); to answer you and follow up on a trial or a subscription; to bill paid plans; to measure which pages and campaigns bring visitors. We do not profile you, we do not sell data, and we never train anything on your searches, which we do not have.

Who receives data

Infomaniak (Switzerland) hosts the servers and runs the language model behind the Agent and the dictation, under terms that exclude retention and training. Odoo (customer relationship system, hosted in the European Union) holds your name, e-mail address, how you arrived and your usage counts, so that we can follow up with you. When paid plans open, Stripe processes payments and holds your card or bank details and billing address; we receive the identifiers and status of each payment. Your own assistant's provider (Anthropic, OpenAI or another) receives the search results our tools return to it, as part of the conversation you hold with it, under that provider's terms. Nobody else receives personal data, except when the law requires it.

Cookies

One signed session cookie keeps you signed in for thirty days; a short-lived cookie remembers which page to return to during an assistant connection; a cookie may remember which link brought you here. No advertising or tracking cookie, no third-party analytics.

How long

We keep each piece of data no longer than its purpose requires. Account data for as long as the account exists, or until you ask us to delete it. Sign-in events for as long as they are useful to secure the service. Daily usage counts and visit counts as aggregates. Assistant tokens until you disconnect them, until they expire or until you change your password. Payment records for as long as accounting law requires. Hosted reports we make for you (landscape pages) until you ask us to remove them. We do not commit to fixed durations at this stage; when we set them, this page will say so.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, receive a copy, object to a processing or withdraw a consent. Write to the address on ipfactory.ai; we answer within the legal time limit. You may also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner or, in the European Union, to your national authority.

Children

The service is meant for professionals and is not directed at children under sixteen.

Changes

We will update this page when the service changes; the date below tells you when. Material changes to what we collect are announced to account holders by e-mail.
